What Will Hemp Salve Do?
Our hemp salve contains cannabidiol (CBD), a naturally occurring cannabinoid produced by the hemp plant. Studies are currently underway regarding CBD’s potential anti-inflammatory properties and ability to soothe irritated skin.
When CBD is topically applied and works its way into your skin, it’s believed that it blocks pain receptors. When combined with the other comforting herbs, our hemp salve can help soothe those deep aches and pains.
What’s In Sunset Lake’s Hemp Salve?
Full-Spectrum CBD Infused into Organic Coconut Oil
We use oil extracted from hemp plants we’ve grown on our farm in Northern Vermont. By infusing it into our organic coconut oil before incorporating it into our hemp salve, we ensure that the CBD is distributed equally throughout the product for consistent application.
Beeswax
The base of any good salve is beeswax. Beeswax is believed to help lower cholesterol levels, prevent infections, and protect the stomach from ulcers.
Organic Shea Butter
Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree. Its high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids make it great for smoothing, soothing, and softening your skin.
Organic Frankincense
Frankincense is a woody and lemony scented resin that comes from trees in the Boswellia genus. The resin has long been valued for its health benefits and anti-inflammatory properties. Particularly, the boswellic acid found in the resin is noted for its ability to limit redness and swelling in the skin. We use frankincense in our hemp salve as a minor fragrance.
Organic Jojoba oil
Surprise! Jojoba oil is actually a wax. Due to its chemical makeup, jojoba is constantly in a liquid state. As a result of the increased wax esters in jojoba it very closely resembles sebum (the oily, waxy substance produced by your skin.) Thus the jojoba oil allows for our hemp salve to be more easily absorbed into the skin.
Arnica-Infused Organic Sunflower Oil
Arnica is derived from small yellow flowers found in dry mountain areas throughout the U.S. and globally. When applied topically Arnica has been shown to help to ease bruising and soreness.
