Do you have trouble falling asleep? Does melatonin throw you for a loop? You’re not alone— sleep issues are the number one reason that people say they use Sunset Lake CBD’s range of products.
After listening to feedback about our 1200mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil + Melatonin, we created the 1800mg Full Spectrum CBD + CBN Goodnight Oil. We’ve combined the relaxing benefits of CBD and the sleepy benefits of CBN in this gentle 2:1 formula (and left the melatonin behind!).

How To Use
When you receive your 1800mg Full Spectrum CBD + CBN Goodnight Oil Tincture, please open your package and make sure that the bottle is unopened and unbroken. If the bottle appears to be broken, leaking, or defective, please contact us using the information on the packing slip.
Using Your CBD Oil Tincture
If you’re new to this product or CBD in general, we recommend starting with 0.5mL. That translates to one-half of a dropper of oil. When you know how your body reacts to this dose, please adjust your dosage as needed.
If you find it difficult to wake up in the morning, consider taking less oil before bed. Or, if you find that 0.5 mL isn’t providing you with your desired effects, please increase your dose. We recommend moving your dose up and down slowly in 0.25 mL increments until you find something that works for you.
You can ingest this 1800mg Full Spectrum CBD + CBN Goodnight Oil in one of two ways.
Fast: Est. time to effect: 20-30 minutes
Fill the dropper to your desired dosage and dispense the oil under your tongue. Let your tongue rest on top of the oil and count to 20. Swallow the oil at the end of the count.
Gradual: Est. time to effect: 60-90 minutes
Fill the dropper to your desired dosage and dispense the oil into a nighttime drink. We recommend adding this mint-flavored oil to a cup of sleepytime tea. Drink your beverage as you would normally.
Our Recommendation
For the best results, we suggest taking your preferred dose of CBD oil at least one hour before your desired bedtime. The cannabinoids take some time before they enter your bloodstream. We suggest taking your dose at the same time every night, too, as part of a good sleep hygiene protocol.
If you do decide to mix this oil with a hot beverage before bed, try to avoid drinks with caffeine. Instead, mix it with an herbal tea designed to help you relax.
Safety Considerations
We recommend consuming this product once you’re at home or in a safe place. Avoid operating heavy machinery for at least 4 hours after use.

FAQ
General Questions:
What is CBD + CBN Oil?
We make our Goodnight CBD + CBN oil by first extracting CBD (and other cannabinoids) from hemp flowers using cold ethanol. Once we evaporate off the ethanol, only a hemp concentrate remains. This concentrate, Cured Resin, which looks a bit like molasses, is fat-soluble.
In our Goodnight oil, we further distill this concentrate down into a more flavorless CBD distillate. We mix our CBD distillate with MCT oil and add in CBN isolate until we reach our desired 2:1 ratio of CBD to CBN.
What is CBN?
CBN is the shortened version of Cannabinol, one of cannabis and hemp’s 100+ cannabinoids. While it’s still too early to say definitively, some research has highlighted CBN’s restful properties.
When combined with CBD in a full-spectrum product, we believe that CBN may help people manage their sleep much more effectively.
How is the Goodnight Oil different from the 1,200mg CBD Oil + Melatonin?
Like our 1,200mg CBD Oil + Melatonin, we specifically formulated the Goodnight Oil with rest and sleep in mind. This gentle 2:1 CBD and CBN formula contains full-spectrum CBD extract mixed with CBN isolate.
The Goodnight Oil is different because it is a full-spectrum CBD and CBN oil that contains no melatonin. If you are sensitive to melatonin or find that it gives you extreme dreams, we recommend that you give this product a try instead.
How do I use my Goodnight Oil?
You can use your Goodnight Oil to help with sleep in one of two ways. If you want to experience the benefits faster, we recommend putting your dose of oil under your tongue and holding it there for 20 seconds. There are capillaries there that will readily absorb the cannabinoids in your product. After the 20 seconds is up, swallow the oil.
You can also add your oil to a hot beverage or before-bed snack. We recommend something calming like chamomile tea. When you consume your oil this way, it will need to reach your stomach before it begins to work.
Can I purchase this without a prescription?
You do not need a prescription to purchase and use our 1800mg Full Spectrum CBD + CBN Goodnight Oil Tincture. We make this product with CBD that we extract from federally compliant hemp plants. That means that we can ship this Goodnight oil anywhere in the United States via the USPS.
Effects Questions:
What does CBD do?
CBD can do a lot for people and their overall wellness. While the FDA prohibits us as a hemp company from making any health claims, we encourage you to take a look at our customer reviews down below to learn how the 1200mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil + Melatonin has helped our amazing customers.
How long does it take for CBD oil to work?
The onset time can vary based on the method of consumption.
Sublingual use can take effect within 15-30 minutes, while ingesting your oil may take 1-2 hours. Topical application can take effect within 15-30 minutes.
Will I get high off of this product?
We make our CBD oils with full-spectrum CBD extract, which means that they contain trace amounts of THC. Theoretically, you could take enough of this oil to start to feel intoxicated.
However, if you use this product as directed, you shouldn’t feel THC’s effect or feel intoxicated.
How much do I take for sleep?
Your optimal dosage of CBD and CBN oil for sleep is dependent on factors unique to you. Your metabolism, body type, and previous hemp use will all play a role.
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that folks start with a half-dropper (0.5mL) of this oil on their first few days of use. Take it about one hour before you want to be in bed asleep. Settle into bed with a book and try to avoid screens. We encourage you to be mindful of how you feel and how easy you find falling asleep during this first week. If this dose works, great! Stick with it.
If you find that this dosage isn’t enough, step it up to a full dropper of oil. Make small adjustments and practice good sleep hygiene until you find a routine that works for you.
Health Questions:
Are there Side Effects?
As with any herbal supplement, our CBD and CBN oil do present some side effects, though they are rare. You may experience the following after using this product.
- Nausea
- Appetite changes
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
- And more…
If you experience any of the above side effects, you may want to consider lowering your CBD dose or stop dosing altogether.
Will this product affect the medications I’m taking?
CBD can interact with certain medications. If you are taking any prescriptions, especially those with a grapefruit warning, please consult a healthcare professional— either your doctor or pharmacist— before you consume CBD products.
Can I mix this product with other substances?
You can consume CBD products with other substances safely. Many users mix THC-heavy cannabis products with CBD hemp products, often without incident.
We don’t recommend using any CBD/hemp products in conjunction with alcohol, as this can increase the risk of side effects like drowsiness and impaired coordination.
If you plan on using CBD in conjunction with other herbs and/or naturopathic remedies, please consult a naturopathic doctor or herbalist for safety instructions.
Legal Questions:
Will I fail a drug test after taking this product?
All of Sunset Lake CBD’s CBD Oil products are crafted with full-spectrum CBD extracts, which means that the extract contains trace amounts of THC. While the amounts comply with USDA rules, we recommend exercising caution if you are subject to drug testing. Even trace amounts of THC can trigger a positive result on workplace drug tests.

It is legal for us to sell, process, and ship our CBD oil products from Vermont because they comply with the federal 0.3% delta-9 THC and Vermont’s total THC limits, respectively.

Frequently asked CBD Questions
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring chemical compound produced by mature hemp and cannabis plants. It is one of the 100+ cannabinoids that have, as of now, been identified in Cannabis Sativa plants. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana, CBD is non-intoxicating. This means that consuming CBD does not result in the “high” typically associated with cannabis use.

CBD interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system— a biological network composed of cannabinoid receptors and signalers— to help the body maintain overall health and homeostasis.
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in many bodily functions including,
- Sleep
- Mood
- Stress
- Metabolism and appetite
- Memory and our ability to retain new information
CBD is known as a phytocannabinoid, phyto- meaning ‘of the plant’ and mimics our body’s endocannabinoids, endo- meaning internal, that our bodies naturally produce. Some believe that consuming phytocannabinoids like CBD can help a user’s endocannabinoid system run more efficiently.
CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol (Canna-Bi-Diol.) Emphasis ours.
CBD by itself does not show up on a standard workplace drug test. That’s not to say that CBD products won’t show up on a drug test. For more on this subject, check out our blog post on the subject.
CBD is well tolerated by most, but using CBD can cause some unwanted side effects. Some of the most common include:
- Change in appetite
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Upset Stomach
CBD isn’t shown to have any dependence issues, meaning that you will not get addicted to CBD if you begin to use it. The World Health Organization has stated that “…in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…”
CBD is non-psychoactive and will not make users feel intoxicated. In other words, CBD will not get you “high.”
