Description
We don’t currently have any Sour Special Sauce Prerolls for sale. This cultivar tested at a funky 16.6% total CBD and had a wonderfully unique terpene profile. If you want to see us grow this cultivar again, contact us here.
Sunset Lake CBD carries the non-sour version of this cultivar. Check out the Special Sauce Prerolls
One of the rarest flower strains on the market, we acquired these seeds from Oregon CBD during their one-time “Exclusive Funk” seed release. Sour Special Sauce’s purple buds and orange hairs clock in at a respectable 16.6% total CBD. The aroma of this flower is fiercely distinct from other strains, even its cousin Special Sauce, and its earthy tones harken back to the rich New England soil that nourished this plant. By using our slow curing process, we’ve ensured that you too can enjoy its unique flavor. This flower smokes smooth and sets in behind the eyes.
Each Sour Special Sauce Preroll is housed in a 98mm Raw-brand hemp-paper cone and packed with our sun-grown Sour Special Sauce Hemp Flower. Sour Special Sauce Prerolls are available in single packs of five prerolls, bundles of 5 packs, and bundles of 10 packs.
Suggested Use:
Lighting one of Sunset Lake CBD’s Sour Special Sauce Prerolls will require a lighter and a little patience. First, you’ll want to hold the preroll by pinching the mouthpiece. Hold it so that its long side is parallel with the ground and use the lighter to light the crown (another name for the folded-over end). Take care to turn the preroll in your fingers as you light it to achieve a uniform burn.
Once the preroll can stay lit without the use of the lighter, pull the flame away and blow out any remaining active flame on the crown. Put the mouthpiece between your lips and pull slowly. You’ll know that you have a good burn going if the other end of the preroll glows during your pull.
Once your preroll is lit and pulling without resistance, pull and inhale the smoke at your leisure. Keep smoking until you’re satisfied with your CBD dose, or you finish the preroll. Remember that peak blood concentration of CBD occurs about 2 – 3 minutes after inhalation, so don’t rush through your preroll. Once you’re finished, please compost or dispose of your mouthpiece responsibly.
Also Featuring Sour Suver Haze:
Sunset Lake CBD also carries this cultivar as hand-trimmed Sour Special Sauce Hemp Flower and Sour Special Sauce Smalls

From the breeder:
“Backed by a new GG#4 pollinator with bigger buds and better structure, Sour Special Sauce is the sour terpinolene, beta-caryophyllene, and limonene terpene twist on the original. Still expect to get those beautiful pink pistils on flowers and a similar sweet funk in the nose. Its SS mother is known for thriving in moist environments.”
Aroma & Terpene Content
We did not get this cultivar tested for its terpene content, but the dominant terpenes according to the breeder are:
Sour Special Sauce smells like a mix of passionfruit and good soil

Frequently asked CBD Questions
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring chemical compound produced by mature hemp and cannabis plants. It is one of the 100+ cannabinoids that have, as of now, been identified in Cannabis Sativa plants. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana, CBD is non-intoxicating. This means that consuming CBD does not result in the “high” typically associated with cannabis use.

CBD interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system— a biological network composed of cannabinoid receptors and signalers— to help the body maintain overall health and homeostasis.
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in many bodily functions including,
- Sleep
- Mood
- Stress
- Metabolism and appetite
- Memory and our ability to retain new information
CBD is known as a phytocannabinoid, phyto- meaning ‘of the plant’ and mimics our body’s endocannabinoids, endo- meaning internal, that our bodies naturally produce. Some believe that consuming phytocannabinoids like CBD can help a user’s endocannabinoid system run more efficiently.
CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol (Canna-Bi-Diol.) Emphasis ours.
CBD by itself does not show up on a standard workplace drug test. That’s not to say that CBD products won’t show up on a drug test. For more on this subject, check out our blog post on the subject.
CBD is well tolerated by most, but using CBD can cause some unwanted side effects. Some of the most common include:
- Change in appetite
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Upset Stomach
CBD isn’t shown to have any dependence issues, meaning that you will not get addicted to CBD if you begin to use it. The World Health Organization has stated that “…in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…”
CBD is non-psychoactive and will not make users feel intoxicated. In other words, CBD will not get you “high.”
