Lifter Kief

Our Lifter Kief was harvested from our most potent Lifter hemp flower cultivar this year. If you’re looking to add an extra shot of CBD to your smoking experience, Lifter Kief is the way to go.

What is Kief?

At the end of the flowering stage, the hemp plant is covered in resinous, mushroom-shaped glands called trichomes. Trichomes, specifically the bulbous heads, are where CBD, THC, minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavinoids develop.

Kief is the collection of these trichome heads and usually has a golden, sometimes greenish color. More often than not, folks usually first encounter kief at the bottom of multi-chambered cannabis flower grinders. The bottom section under the flower chamber is solid and meant to catch loose trichomes (kief) that break off of the flower.

How We Gather Our Kief

Sunset Lake CBD’s Lifter Kief is dry-sifted off of our cured hemp flower and dried trimmings through an ultra-fine 125µg (microgram) screen. The result is a sandy-blonde collection of CBD kief.

What Do You Do With Kief?

Lifter Kief makes the perfect partner to all of Sunset Lake CBD’s smokable flower. The following are a few ways that CBD kief can be enjoyed:

Add to your bowl

Sometimes called “adding toppings” or “crowning” a bowl, adding a pinch of CBD kief to your ground-up hemp flower will increase its potency.

Coat your pre-rolls

It would be counter-intuitive to open up your pre-rolled hemp flower joints to add kief. Instead, folks sometimes wet the outside of their pre-roll and then roll said joint over loose kief.

Add to your edibles

You can also add kief to your edible recipes for an extra kick. Remember to decarboxylate your kief before you do anything else.

Hot beverages

Some Sunset Lake CBD customers have even been known to add kief to their morning tea or coffee. In this case, the heat of the beverage *should* be enough to decarboxylate your kief.

Lifter Terpenes

The top three terpenes tested in our Lifter are:

• Myrcene – Found in mango and hops, myrcene has long been used in some cultures as a sedative and muscle relaxant. Myrcene is also responsible for beer’s peppery and balsam aroma.
• beta-Caryophyllene – Commonly found in cloves, hops, and rosemary, beta-caryophyllene has the distinctive spiciness of black pepper.
• alpha-Pinene – Especially aromatic, pinene is a terpene that smells a lot like pine trees. It can be found in a few of our favorites— pine needles, rosemary, basil, and orange peels.
