Description
Ease into your day with a bold cup of CBD Coffee

We roast our Farmer’s Roast CBD Coffee with our neighbor, Good Luck Coffee Roasters. We exclusively roast with Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee Beans so that you can be sure that everything in your cup is produced with dignity.
What makes the Farmer’s Roast CBD Coffee Special?

How To Use
When you receive your bag of CBD Coffee in the mail, please check your bag for damage. If there is an issue with the bag’s heat seal. If the bag appears to be damaged, opened, or defective, please contact us using the information on your packing slip.
If you’re new to this product or CBD in general, we recommend trying a cup on the weekend. When you know how your body reacts to CBD, adjust your drink schedule accordingly.
Brewing Your CBD Coffee
Measure your coffee beans using a kitchen scale. We recommend using 12 grams of whole beans for every cup of coffee you want to make. This amount of beans will give you a 25mg dose per cup.
If you’re a more experienced user and want to make a bolder cup, please feel free to use additional beans.
Grind your desired amount of beans with an electric coffee grinder set to drip or percolator grind, if available. A coarser grind will work better with our suggested brewing methods.
For the best brew, we recommend using any method that utilizes a metal mesh filter. The team here at Sunset Lake prefers a French press, but you may also use a drip machine if it uses a metal mesh screen. Paper or cloth filters can filter some of the CBD during brewing.
You can also brew your Farmer’s Roast CBD Coffee in your at-home cold brew setup. Please note that this will make for a tastier and more caffeinated final product.
Our Recommendation
If you’re a fan of our CBD Coffee, consider signing up for a subscription! We’ll send you a bag of your choice as often as you want. It’s a great way to never run out of our small-batch coffee.
Substitute for your afternoon cup – If you prefer a coffee after lunch to keep your energy up, try substituting our CBD coffee for your regular brew. You can maintain your mental edge without feeling overly jittery.
Add CBD Oil – If you want more relief in every cup, you can add a dropper of your favorite Sunset Lake CBD Oil Tincture instead of doubling the amount of beans in your cup. Yes, there will be a slick of oil on your coffee, but it will be more cost-effective.
Dial in with functional mushrooms – On days you need to be dialed in for an important presentation, try taking a Focus Functional Mushroom Gummy with your cup of coffee. The Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps in every gummy will compliment the caffeine and CBD nicely.
Safety Considerations
We recommend consuming this product once you’re at home or in a safe place. Avoid operating heavy machinery for at least 2-3 hours after use.
For new users: If you’re new to CBD, try experimenting in the evening at home to understand how your body responds to full-spectrum CBD. Once you’re comfortable, you can explore using it at other times of the day.

FAQ
General Questions:
What is CBD Coffee?
CBD coffee is coffee, either whole-bean or pre-ground, infused with CBD hemp extract.
At Sunset Lake CBD, we infuse premium dark-roast coffee beans with full-spectrum CBD hemp extract.
Many companies make their coffee with CBD isolate because it’s easier to work within a food setting. We think you get the best results from CBD by using full-spectrum hemp extract, so we use a unique method to infuse whole beans during the roasting process.
What are Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans?
Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans come from farms that put climate, forest health, human rights, and workers’ rights front and center— a few core tenets that we care about deeply here at Sunset Lake CBD.
To read more about the Rainforest Alliance Certification, please visit their website here.
Do you offer a pre-ground option?
At this time, we cannot pre-grind your CBD coffee beans prior to shipment. We are currently looking into providing a pre-ground coffee product.
How do you make CBD Coffee?
You can make CBD Coffee in one of two ways.
- If you’re making it yourself at home with regular coffee and CBD oil, you can add CBD oil to your cup of coffee. This will result in small ‘oil slicks’ sitting on top of your coffee, though.
- With Sunset Lake CBD’s Farmer’s Roast, brew your coffee as you usually would. We recommend using metal filters if you can, as paper filters can catch some of the CBD. Each 8oz. cup of Farmer’s Roast you brew should contain around 25mg of full-spectrum CBD with none of the ‘oil slicks.’
Can I add extra CBD to this coffee?
That’s the brilliant part about Sunset Lake’s Farmer’s Roast. Each 12g serving of CBD-infused coffee beans will contain 24mg of CBD when brewed. You don’t need to add your own CBD.
However, if you want a more ‘potent’ cup of coffee, you can absolutely add additional CBD. We recommend using one of our unflavored CBD oil tinctures.
Can I use this coffee in my single-serve (K-cup) machine?
You can use this coffee if you have reusable pods for your single serve ‘K-cup’ machine. You will need to grind the CBD infused coffee beans before you load the grounds into the pod.
Can I reheat this coffee in the microwave?
If you’re one to sip on your morning cup for an hour or more, your CBD coffee may end up getting a bit chilly. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend reheating your CBD coffee. The microwave may end up damaging the CBD inside, and you’ll lose out on potency.
Effects Questions:
What does CBD Coffee do?
Sunset Lake’s CBD Coffee is a great balancing act in a cup. Caffeine is an excellent stimulant that can help us wake up. Too much caffeine can make us jittery, though.
CBD, on the other hand, can have calming effects. CBD and caffeine can give you the energy you need in the morning without those unwanted jitters.
How long until I feel the effects of the CBD Coffee?
You should begin to feel the effects of your CBD Coffee in just a few minutes. The caffeine and CBD will start to kick in right around the same time and you should feel a gentle lift in your energy levels, but more rounded out, and less jittery, than a traditional cup of coffee.
Will I get high drinking this coffee?
We infuse our coffee with full-spectrum CBD extract, which means that it contains trace amounts of THC. Theoretically, you could drink enough of this coffee to start to feel intoxicated (though you would likely have an adverse reaction to the caffeine content first.)
If you use this product as directed, you shouldn’t feel THC’s effect or feel intoxicated.
Health Questions:
What are the health risks associated with drinking CBD Coffee?
While CBD is generally considered a safe and natural product for humans, it can give users some unwanted side effects. They include:
- Nausea
- Appetite changes
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
- And more…
If you experience any of the above side effects, you may want to consider lowering your CBD dose or stop dosing altogether.
Will this product interact with my medications?
CBD can interact with certain medications. If you are taking any prescriptions, especially those with a grapefruit warning, please consult a healthcare professional— either your doctor or pharmacist— before you consume CBD products.
Can I mix this product with other substances?
You can consume CBD products with other substances safely. Many users mix THC-heavy cannabis products with CBD hemp products, often without incident.
We don’t recommend using any CBD/hemp products in conjunction with alcohol, as this can increase the risk of side effects like drowsiness and impaired coordination.
If you plan on using CBD in conjunction with other herbs and/or naturopathic remedies, please consult a naturopathic doctor or herbalist for safety instructions
Legal Questions:
Will I fail a drug test after drinking CBD Coffee?
We infuse this CBD Coffee with full-spectrum CBD extracts, which means that the extract contains trace amounts of THC. While the amounts comply with USDA rules, we recommend exercising caution if you are subject to drug testing. Even trace amounts of THC can trigger a positive result on workplace drug tests.
Please see the THC-free products we offer here.
Is this product legal in my state?
Please check your local and state laws for any specific restrictions.
It is legal for us to sell, process, and ship our CBD oil products from Vermont because they comply with the federal 0.3% delta-9 THC and Vermont’s total THC limits, respectively.
Can I travel with my CBD Coffee?
You can travel with this product domestically within the U.S. We recommend keeping the original packaging and the test results (certificates of analysis sent with every order) in case of any questions from authorities.
Please be aware that this product may not be compliant with state laws and may not be legal to possess. Do some research about your local or state laws before traveling with this product.
If you’re traveling internationally, you will want to check your destination country’s hemp and cannabis laws.

Frequently asked CBD Questions
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring chemical compound produced by mature hemp and cannabis plants. It is one of the 100+ cannabinoids that have, as of now, been identified in Cannabis Sativa plants. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana, CBD is non-intoxicating. This means that consuming CBD does not result in the “high” typically associated with cannabis use.

CBD interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system— a biological network composed of cannabinoid receptors and signalers— to help the body maintain overall health and homeostasis.
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in many bodily functions including,
- Sleep
- Mood
- Stress
- Metabolism and appetite
- Memory and our ability to retain new information
CBD is known as a phytocannabinoid, phyto- meaning ‘of the plant’ and mimics our body’s endocannabinoids, endo- meaning internal, that our bodies naturally produce. Some believe that consuming phytocannabinoids like CBD can help a user’s endocannabinoid system run more efficiently.
CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol (Canna-Bi-Diol.) Emphasis ours.
CBD by itself does not show up on a standard workplace drug test. That’s not to say that CBD products won’t show up on a drug test. For more on this subject, check out our blog post on the subject.
CBD is well tolerated by most, but using CBD can cause some unwanted side effects. Some of the most common include:
- Change in appetite
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Upset Stomach
CBD isn’t shown to have any dependence issues, meaning that you will not get addicted to CBD if you begin to use it. The World Health Organization has stated that “…in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…”
CBD is non-psychoactive and will not make users feel intoxicated. In other words, CBD will not get you “high.”
