What Is Live Rosin?

Live rosin is a type of solventless cannabis concentrate used with raw cannabis plants. When we say raw, we mean cannabis or hemp flowers that we haven’t cured and still contain a significant amount of water weight.

Rosin is a concentrate we make with heat and pressure by squeezing the essential oils out of our flowers. While still a fine product, many concentrate connoisseurs note that using heat damages cannabinoids and terpenes and ultimately affects the flavor.

Live Rosin is the answer to the connoisseur’s concerns. To protect the final product’s taste, we must first wash our raw flowers in ice water. The cold water freezes the trichomes and breaks them off from the flower.

We’re left with a wet, waxy product that needs to be dried and cured. The resulting product is called “live rosin” and contains all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that make for one extremely tasty experience.

Distillate

Distillate is a highly refined cannabis concentrate and is usually used to manufacture other cannabis products. We make it by taking an ethanol or carbon dioxide crude extraction and further distilling the impurities from it. The result is a golden, honey-like substance.

Hash, also known as hashish, is the original cannabis concentrate, dating back thousands of years. We make it by pressing Kief together with heat until it forms a light brown to black block of material. Consumers usually smoke hash right alongside cannabis flower.

You’ll notice that all of the other concentrates listed above require either a solvent or heat to make. Both solvents and heat can affect the final product by altering the terpene profile of the final product. Live rosin stands out from the rest by,
